Just south of the Free Campsite is a track that leads down to Upsalls Creek, and a delightful, if rocky set of pools, that are great for taking a dip on a hot day! Go past the commemorative boulder and plaque for the Neilson brothers, that names the Neilson Recreation Area.
'Our' youth group enjoyed a time of swimming in the swimming hole here, as the year before it was too cold, and we had only just visited the alternative swimming hole to the east (about 500 m downstream).
A large part of the swimming hole is only about 1.2 metres deep, with a narrow section 1.5 metres deep. It mostly has a rock, or pebbly base to stand on, with a muddy bank for entry, with a set of concrete steps just a little upstream.
