Gravesite of Sir Alexander Campbell, one of the Fathers of Confederation who laid the framework for the creation of the Dominion of Canada at the Intercolonial Conferences of 1864 - 1867.

Campbell was born in England in 1822. His family moved to Montreal in 1823, and eventually to Kingston in 1836. In 1839 he began his Law career under the tutelage of John A. MacDonald, destined to become Canada's first Prime Minister. He earned his Law Degree in 1843 and became MacDonald's partner. He also entered local politics about that time, serving in various municipal offices.

As such, he was called upon by MacDonald for valued input during the Intercolonial Conferences of 1864 - 1867.

After Confederation, he never served as a politician again, however he did stints as Ontario's Lieutenant Governer and as Dean of Queen's University. Campbell died in 1892.

He has been designated as a Person of National Historical Significance by the Government of Canada.
