[EN]Built in the 13th century the church was, in all likelihood, the chapel of the castle.
From the 15th century onwards, the city developed within an enclosure of ramparts, the edification of which had been made possible by the emancipation of the city granted by its lord, Jean de Brosse, in 1427. It was Surrounded by the cemetery. In late Romanesque style, it consisted only of a nave with three spans and was devoid of bell tower.
From the 15th century, it underwent profound modifications.
On the south side, it was enlarged by two lateral chapels: the Chapel of the Pieta and the chapel of the Fresco. This chapel houses the confessional and has a fragment of fresco on which one can see a shepherd and a musician on the way. The analysis of the clothes of the two characters, as well as the examination of the bagpipes of which one plays, makes it possible to situate this pictorial representation in the 15th century.
On the North side, two other chapels were added: the North East chapel and the richer North West chapel, in the Gothic style, with ribbed crosses. His vault bears a remarkable representation of the Four Evangelists (Marc, Luc, Jean, Mathieu). This chapel contains several seigneurial tombstones. It is a funerary chapel dedicated to Lords who, to date, have not been identified.
In the 18th century, a square bell-tower with an octagonal spire, covered with shingles of split chestnut, was added to the junction of the nave and the false transept.
