"Carrier house Eduardschacht (ENERGETICON) - Building monument No. 18 of Alsdorf
The 1906 conveyor house, a brick building with a saddle roof, is similar to the lower station on Anna I in the architectural training with the remaining wall surfaces of blast furnace slag stones and structural red brick parts.
The hall covered by steel trusses is divided internally into three rooms: a longitudinal wall separates the west and the east, and a further transverse wall divides the rear of the forming area. The building and the machines listed below form a technical - functional unit.
The eastern transport machine obtained from the construction period of the hall is of considerable technical-historical importance. It is an electric conveyor with two electromotors from Felten and Guilleaum, Lahmeyerwerke. Between the motors is a cable drift drum for walking rope. The drum has a width of 2.2 m, is provided with a wooden cover and originally had spiral grooves, so that the conveyor rope was hit around the drum 4.5 times. With this type of rope drive, an improvement in coal production was sought, with increased friction resistance between rope and drum.
This rope drive, which still exists on the Dutch mines Laura and Vereenigung, is unique. The transport machine includes the mechanically driven depth gauge (from 1931) and the control station of the conveyors (from 1931) in a modern steel / glass enclosure.
The entire plant is a transformer room of the Illgner converters with Leonhard circuit of Felten and Guilleaum.
The electric conveyor machine from Alsdorf comes from the early days of electrification in mining. Particularly interesting is the plant also by the unique rope drum. A historic mining workplace is documented with the helmsman's helm. Building and machine form a technically functional unit.
The monument value of the building was not affected by the demolition of the Eduardschacht and the Schachthalle. The conveyor house is the last building of the original architecture of Anna II, which was not destroyed during the 1930 disaster.
Today the conveyor house is part of the ENERGETICON."
