The village of La Roque sur Cèze, 138 inhabitants in 1914, will pay a heavy tribute during this conflict. Seven young men will not come back and many will be hurt.
At the end of the war, like all the communes of France, La Roque sur Cèze erected a monument in memory of its missing.
On November 11, 1926, it was inaugurated by the mayor Joseph Mourret, surrounded by the municipal councilors whose names are engraved on the base.
