This plot of land was set aside by Royal Tyler Cogswell in 1838 and was to be used as a cemetery. Due to its age, West Windsor Cemetery is considered a pioneer cemetery and several Civil War and Spanish American War veterans are buried here. As far as I can tell the first burial took place in 1842, that of Emma Billman on Feb. 17,1842.
This Cemetery contains 435 lots, each can hold up to 6 graves.
The cemetery is still an active cemetery and is very well kept. Many gravestones are missing due to vandalism over the years.
