There's a plaque at the entrance saying that this the location of McDonald's origin, but that's not quite correct. When started on July 20, 1971, Store No. 1 was located inside the Mitsukoshi Department Store at 4-6-16 Ginza, a block northwest and around the corner from this location (N 35 40.287, E 139 45.938). It was just a storefront with no seating, like a typical ballpark hot dog stand.
Current Ginza Harumi-dori McDonald's is on the first floor of a small business building with indoor seating. It does have a "Ginza style neon sign" on top of the building. There are two other McDonald's in Ginza, at 2-9-7 and 4-4-10.
