"Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" is a museum of contemporary history in Bonn. In its permanent exhibition, the "Haus der Geschichte" presents German history from 1945 until the present. Numerous temporary exhibitions emphasize different features.
The museum was opened on the 14th of June, 1994. On 4000m² more than 7000 exhibits and 150 media stations illustrate German contemporary history in the international context. The exhibition walk is built up chronologically and encloses all-German subjects just as the history of the at that time divided nation. The museum puts special emphasis on the orientation of visitors and a vivid presentation of historical events. Under the slogan “Experience History”, the concept is to draw attention to historical objects and make them come alive for visitors. This happens also through the use of historical film and sound records.
