On the northwest corner of the main intersection of downtown Tonkawa stands a two-story brick building with a unique history. In 1915, the original owner had a business selling fuel for stoves and lamps. As automobiles became the fashion and more in use, he built this building in 1920 to house a service station, with living quarters upstairs. The service station operated for years, until the family retired. It stood closed and vacant for many years, and was recently renovated for its current use.
This is a two-story brick building with a canted front entrance under a covered service bay, supported by a brick pillar. The windows on the second floor are set in two's and have stone sills and lintels. The upper wall has three large brick panels, decorated with stone block corners.
The building is currently occupied by T-S Fork, an upscale farm-to-fork restaurant, which is open Friday and Saturday for dinner. A concrete patio with an iron fence has been constructed for outdoor dining, and an iron spiral staircase leads to the second level.
Address of the station: 100 W. Grand Tonkawa, OK US 74653
