The National Library of Australia Digitised Newspapers (Trove) has an article about the death published in the Sydney Morning Herald.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Saturday 4 September 1937 the results of an inquiry into his death. Headed:

DANGER OF DOGS IN STREETS.

MOSS VALE, Friday.

A verdict of accidental death was returned after an inquiry into the death of John Leonard New at Berrima. New was thrown from a motor bicycle when two dogs rushed in front of the machine. The district coroner said that action should be taken to rid the streets of ownerless mongrels, which were a source of danger to traffic. He said that they should be taxed off the streets.
