The Minnesota Memorial stand in the Andersonville National Cemetery as a tribute to those who died in the Confederate Prison at Andersonville. The monument consists of a bronze statue of a Union Soldier standing atop a base made of Vermont granite. The soldier in the statue is dressed in his winter coat with his hat over his heart as a everlasting salute to his fellow soldiers who are resting here. The inscription on the base of the monument reads:

IN MEMORY OF HER SOLDIERS
HERE BURIED WHO LOST THEIR LIVES
IN THE SERVICE OF THE UNITED STATES
IN THE WAR FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE UNION
A.D. 1861 – 1865
