This Baptist Church 'backs onto' the ALDI store car park, which is how I first noticed it.
The NSW Government has prepared a statement on this church for its heritage status: (

"The Katoomba Baptist Church is a good representative example of a Federation Gothic church albeit with simple detailing characteristic."
"Katoomba Baptist Church is a simply detailed 4 bay gabled brick church on a north-south axis with a parapeted entry lobby facing north to Waratah Street. The church is in the Federation Gothic style and has pointed arched windows and a pointed arch entry door with framed and diagonally boarded doors.
"The entry lobby has a rendered frieze between brick piers in the parapet with the name "BAPTIST CHURCH" in the render.
"A bullseye vent is at high level in the gable."
A polished black marble slab, with gold inlaid writing, on the right-hand (western) side of the front of the Church reads:
"Laid by
Mrs W Buckingham
2nd Oct 1916"
While a similar plaque on the left-hand (eastern) side of the front of the Church reads:
"Laid by
J. A. Packer
Pres. Baptist Union NSW
2nd Oct 1916"
As at February 2016, the Minister was Rev. Stan Wright.
