"A bronze sculpture on a low bronze plinth, 1986. This work was formerly on the west side of Old Market Square, but was moved to the castle to make way for construction of the new tram line. It has now been moved to the top of Chapel Bar, approximately 250 metres from the Market Square.

This life-size group of four figures represents the daily passage of people through the city, based upon observation of human behaviour. Quartet was commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council in conjunction with East Midlands Arts. The work took seven months and cost c.£25,000 before being unveiled by Princess Anne on 5 December 1988."
