The novel "Lucia on Holiday" is the latest in a series created by E.F. Benson. Here, in Chapter Two, Georgie is meeting his friend Olga for dinner and lamenting the fact that his wife, Lucia, is insisting on a vacation to Italy. Georgie is tired of Lucia's snobbishness and other behaviors while touring. After a while, Olga, trying to console Georgie, comes up with an idea to help. In the next scene, all we learn is that Olga has recommended that Georgie and Lucia go to Milan and Bellagio. When Lucia learns about this, she is not amused.... but accepts Georgie's "edict".
