EN This building, erected in 1946, became a symbol: after the Second World War, each inhabitant of the village of Milles brought a stone from a bunker built by the Germans near the Arc. They built this chapel with its stones. The location of the building is on a lot offered by Madame Gautier on this occasion.

It was built in thanksgiving to the Virgin Mary, whose parish priest of the time, Abbé Bériat, had placed Les Milles under protection.

Since the Miles had hosted a camp for internment and deportation during the war, everyone thought that he would be bombed for the Liberation, which did not happen. Moreover, the inhabitants were spared by the Nazis.

That is why at the Thousand, in memory of the Liberation. After a wreath laying at the war memorial of the village of Milles, it is at the Chapel of the Serre that the inhabitants of the village go, as usual every 21 August around 6:30 pm, to regroup. The date of August 21 was chosen because it is also the anniversary date of the virgin Mary since then became protector of the village of Milles.
