"The Bunkers Hill Inn is in a former Barclays Bank. It takes its name from an archaeological discovery. During the conversion from bank to pub some 200 tankards were found bearing the name "Bunkers Hill". The original Bunkers Hill was a small lane running parallel to the North side of Lower Parliament Street and in the block of buildings between them was the pub the Bunkers Hill. This original Bunkers Hill was in existence between at least 1799 and 1895 and was demolished to make way for Nottingham Victoria Station. Perhaps the tankards were retained as assets as part of a clearance and compensation scheme operated at the time of demolition?"
