This 12 Pound "Napoleon" artillery piece is located on Lee's Hill, just south of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Lee's Hill was the site of Robert E. Lee's Headquarters during the Battle of Fredericksburg on December 12-13, 1862.
The cannon, notably Confederate due to its straight muzzle, is the type that would have been used during the Battle of Fredericksburg. As a result of the battle, the Union lost over 12,654 men as casualties.
