[DE] "Der Stephansdom ist das Wahrzeichen Wiens. Im 12. Jahrhundert wurde mit dem Bau begonnen. Heute ist er das bedeutendste gotische Bauwerk Österreichs.
Der Stephansdom ist 107,2 Meter lang und 34,2 Meter breit. Er besitzt vier Türme. Der höchste ist der Südturm mit 136,44 Meter. Über 343 Stufen gelangt man in die Türmerstube, von der aus man einen gigantischen Ausblick über Wien hat. Insgesamt 13 Glocken hängen hier. Die bekannteste Glocke des Stephansdoms, die Pummerin, befindet sich allerdings im 68,3 Meter hohen Nordturm. Sie ist die zweitgrößte freischwingend geläutete Kirchenglocke Europas. Auf dem Dach des Stephansdoms wurden mit bunten Dachziegeln der k.u.k. Doppeladler sowie die Wappen der Stadt Wien und Österreichs verlegt. Die Innenausstattung des Stephansdoms wurde im Laufe der Jahrhunderte bis in die Barockzeit immer wieder verändert.
Neben zahlreichen wertvollen Altären und Seitenkapellen kann auch der beeindruckende Domschatz besichtigt werden: kunstvolle mit Gold und Edelsteinen verzierte Reliquien, Monstranzen, liturgische Texte und Bücher sowie Gewänder. Auch zahlreiche Prominente fanden im Stephansdom ihre letzte Ruhestätte: Kaiser Friedrich III. wurde in einem beeindruckenden Marmor-Sarkophag bestattet. Allein die Deckplatte des Grabmals wiegt acht Tonnen. In einer eigenen Kapelle fand Prinz Eugen von Savoyen seine letzte Ruhestätte. Und in den Katakomben des Stephansdoms ist unter anderem der Habsburger-Herzog Rudolph IV. "der Stifter" begraben, der 1359 den Grundstein für den gotischen Neubau der Kathedrale legte. Außerdem sind in den Katakomben die Grabstätten der Wiener Kardinäle und Erzbischöfe zu finden.

Im Stephansdom finden auch jedes Jahr Osterkonzerte und Adventkonzerte statt.

Führungen durch den Dom und in die Katakomben werden regelmäßig angeboten, auch für Kinder."

In addition to numerous valuable altars and side chapels, the impressive cathedral treasure can also be visited: artistic relics decorated with gold and precious stones, monstrance, liturgical texts and books as well as robes. Numerous celebrities also found their last retirement in St. Stephan's Cathedral: Emperor Friedrich III. Was buried in an impressive marble sarcophagus. The top of the tomb alone weighs eight tons. Prince Eugene of Savoy found his last retirement in a private chapel.
