Heute wurde er von Verbandsbürgermeister Klaus Bell, Ortsbürgermeister Gottfried Busch und innogy Kommunalbetreuer Michael Dötsch offiziell eröffnet. Das Prinzip des Bücherschrankes ist einfach: Wer ein interessantes Buch für sich darin entdeckt, darf es mitnehmen. Umgekehrt funktioniert der Büchertausch ebenso: Wer ein Buch abgeben möchte, stellt es in den Schrank hinein. So finden ein schönes Bilderbuch und ein spannender Krimi schnell neue Leser. Auf den beigelegten Lesezeichen ist Platz für persönliche Hinweise zum Buch. So entspricht diese Form des ungezwungenen Literaturtausches der aktuellen „Share Economy“: Mit anderen teilen, was man nicht mehr braucht. Die Patenschaft für den Bücherschrank übernehmen die beiden Nickenicher Bürger Lydia Busch und Guido Nürnberg. Sie werden regelmäßig nach dem Rechten sehen.
