The "Then" photo shows the front door of Saint Peter Cathedral in Erie, PA on October 28, 1948, on the occasion of the consecration of Edward P. McManaman as Auxiliary Bishop of Erie by Archbishop John Mark Gannon. Shown in the photo are also a number of other bishops and prelates who were present for the ceremonies. Today the Cathedral remains mostly unchanged. The lamps on either side of the staircase are still present, as are the windows above the doorways. Bishop McManaman's body now lies in the crypt chapel below the sanctuary of the Cathedral.
Year photo was taken: 1948
