Pub sign for The Moot on Carlton Road, Nottingham. The sign shows some kind of fantastical beast with the body of an ostrich, arms instead of wings (in one hand a pint glass), and the head of a stag with horns.

"Originally a chapel, retaining some of its original features, this two-storey building has been converted to a warm and friendly local. Check out the font in the upstairs pool room. Stopped serving Real Ale in 2012.

Historic Interest

The Moot is in Nottingham City Council's Sneinton Market Conservation Area. The Moot has an entry on Nottingham Civic Society's Draft Local Heritage List (09 December 2013), which notes that this is a fairly recent conversion to a public house and has a stepped gable at the entrance. [Nottingham City Council, St. Ann's Ward / Nottingham East Parliamentary Constituency]"
