There are many dedicated trees surrounding the Joliet Community Center. The dedicated trees are placed lining the parking area and in front of the center. Included among them is a dedicated tree honoring Bob Janz.

Robert (Bob) Janz, Sr. formerly of Joliet, Montana, passed away on May 8, 2003 at the age of 90.

Bob was born on October 17, 1912 in Plevna, Montana to Philip and Justine (Kosch) Janz, both of whom were born in Glastidz, Romania. They moved to Montana in 1910 and had five children.

As a young man, Bob was a boxer who had many bouts in American Legion halls in and around Fallon County. According to newspaper accounts, he won all of his fights except one.

Bob married Viola Leischner on August 28, 1936 in Miles City, Montana. Bob and Viola resided in Plevna where they farmed and owned and operated the Plevna Bar until 1948, when they purchased the Joliet Theatre.
