The old blacksmith shop was established in 1888 in Uferstrasse in Lülsdorf by Jakob Breuer (1865 - 1955). The workshop remained in family estate for about a century, until in 2007 the city of Niederkassel acquired the building within the scope of the land consolidation.
In 2001 the shop was put under conservation of monuments and historic buildings in the "Liste der Baudenkmälerler in Niederkassel".
Since 2009 the "Interessen-Gemeinschaft Schmiedemuseum Alte Schmiede zu Niederkassel- Lülsdorf am Rhein e.V." pusues a museum with presentations by firm appointments.
