"Friday 12 October saw the official unveiling of a 5ft, granite, decorative post, installed as part of the regeneration of the Loughborough railway station. As part of the project students at RNIB College Loughborough created 48 individual ceramic tiles based on four themes: trains, Loughborough and its manufacturing heritage, College life and sport. The tiles have been in production for nearly a year from the design process through to manufacture, all of which has been done by the students.

Lesley-Anne Alexander CBE, RNIB's Chief Executive, was joined by Loughborough MP Nicky Morgan and Councillors and senior officers from Charnwood Borough Council together with College students to officially unveil the post to the public.

Situated in a busy area of the train station the post will be seen by thousands of people and will represent the College, RNIB and the contribution of people with disabilities for many years to come.

College Principal Tony Warren said, "Integrating with the community is very important to help our students develop the skills for a fulfilling adult life. We are all delighted and proud of the outcome. The support from the Charnwood Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council, Network Rail and East Midlands Trains has been tremendous"."
