Karl Johan was a French officer originally named Jean Baptiste Bernadotte.
He ruled Sweden and Norway as king from 1818 til his death in 1844.
This stamp depicts the statue erected in front of the royal palace. The statue was made by the artist Brynjulf Bergslien.
