From the Heddon Greta Drive-In website: (

"It closed twice during the mid 1980's to early 1990's until being reopened by Scott Seddon, with the help of family and friends, on 26th March, 1996."
"Scott sees Heddon Greta Drive-in as a place where families can go, have a meal and sit down and watch great movies together - something not as common these days in our fast technological age - especially without breaking the budget."
I had to laugh at a 'Meme' on their web page while trying to find nearest Drive-In (this is 130 km ATCF - 'as the crow flies'; while the next closest is 250 km at Blacktown, in western Sydney!)
* "If you don't like the Movie… Slash the seats!" *
[This is also on the sign at the entrance.]
It was cold enough that most of the couples stayed in their cars, unless getting food or drink (or going to the loo). But some families rugged up and sat on folding chairs. I wasn't keen on seeing "Cars", so opted for a later screening, with just enough time (I thought) that I could still get to the Blacktown Drive-In; but that was not the case.
There is an ATM inside the Drive-In, but all sales of food and drinks, and entry, are in cash. So be prepared. I was not surprised that there was not many cars here, as even Cinemas are doing it hard. About a third full at 8 pm. (Obviously EMPTY, when I took the daytime photos)
