Der Ortsteil Kripp ist der jüngste Stadtteil von Remagen. Auch wenn Kripp 1474 bereits urkundlich erwähnt wurde, als im burgundischen Krieg kaiserliche Truppen die gegenüberliegende Stadt Linz belagerten, erfolgte die Besiedlung mit dem ersten Hausbau erst im Jahr 1705. Bis zum Bau des Wasserturms 1904 und der Wasserleitung holte die Kripper Bevölkerung ihr Wasser an solchen Pumpen, von denen es mehrere im Ort gab. Diese Pumpe ist die letzte erhaltene.
EN: The old pump Although documented in 1474, Kripp, the newest part of Remagen, was populated in 1705. During the Burgundfan war, imperatorial troops discovered this place when sieging the town of Linz, an the opposing bank of the Rhine. In 1904 a water tower was built to guarantee the water supply, until the village was connected to the mains. Until then the residents had to get their fresh water at such pumps.
