The Homesteader Museum, though small in comparison to some state museums, was one of the most interesting we visited. There are typical homesteader cabins, workshops and equipment also displayed outside.

This Ironrite was the most popular mangle of its day. This is most likely a model 85, circa 1940.

The knee pressure pedal operates the rollers which requires practice to accomplish that perfectly ironed dress. The mangle was considered one of the most innovated inventions to alleviate the drudgery of everyday hand ironing.

Tuesday is Ironing Day.

There is information provided about the mangle.
Automatic Ironer Ironite
circa: 1940

The Ironrite Automatic Iron made ironing a less strenuous job. The roller and foot are controlled by levers pressed the the outside of either knee.
