This memorial is located in Heart in the Park in downtown Tonkawa. The beautifully landscaped area has several monuments, and a labyrinth with a timeline of the history of Tonkawa.

This granite monument has four panels in a curved wall. Scenes have been engraved showing the participants of the Land Run of 1893, which opened this area of Indian Territory to settlement. Horse riders and wagons can be seen racing to stake their claim. The monument celebrates 100 years since that amazing Run. The original art was created by Gene V. Dougherty.

The monument stands beneath the flags of the United States and Oklahoma. Dedications engraved on the monument read: "Dedicated to the people who loved the land. 1893-1993" and "Dedicated to Tonkawa veterans".
