This one horse, single row corn drill allowed the farmer to plant acres of corn per day. The holes in the seed plates governed how far apart the seeds were dropped and the number of seeds per hill. Most drills had a row marker to insure that the next row would be parallel to the one just planted. Some models had a fertilizer attachment. Since the seeder was a hill drop, a good farmer would make hills closer in order to get full use of the fertilizer. One row corn planters usually had plates available for planting other crops. This drill cost about $12 new.
