Wynn Gardens was donated to Conwy County Borough Council by the Williams-Wynn family with the understanding that it remains as an open public space.
During 2004 a Butterfly Garden was designed and installed by North Wales Butterfly Group and attracts many species for the gardens. The gardens includes many unusual and native plant species selected to provide food plants throughout the life cycle of butterflies.
The Sensory Gardens were constructed in 2005 under the supervision of CCBC and partly funded by Old Colwyn Environmental Federation. The sculptures are designed to reflect the local history and landscape, whilst the shrubs used provide texture, sound along with the aromatic herbs used.
