Having moved to Tinonee in 2005 I already knew that there had been a wandering wild peacock of the area, as one of 'our' surgeons had been annoyed by it dancing on his roof at 'all hours' - he lives a couple of kilometres back towards Purfleet. And then a few years ago our family had heard it coming to annoy us in the village of Tinonee. (Haven't heard it for a while - 2017)

It seems that the family 'in the hollow' as you drive out of Tinonee have had an affinity with this particular wandering minstrel, and taken it on as their mascot.

The letterbox has been made from a LPG cylinder, with multiple steel rods attached to a curved metal bar at the rear of the cylinder, that has forks 'welded' to it. The x 9 radiating metal rods have spoons welded to them, with some spoons being polished, and others painted a khaki similar to the body (cylinder) of the peacock. These are in an 'alternating leaf' pattern.

The head of the peacock has been especially made, and welded to the front of the cylinder. Some reinforcing rod has been cut and assembled for the legs and feet of the peacock, and the welded to the side of the cylinder. Mail goes into a covered slot at the front of the peacock's body, with mail then being retrieved from the cloaca !!
