Das Schloss geht auf eine im Auftrag des Markgrafen Wiprecht von Groitzsch errichtete Sumpfburg aus dem 11./12. Jahrhundert zurück, die zum Schutz der Handelsstraße Via Regia Lusatiae Superioris diente. Bis 1945 war das Schloss im Besitz von verschiedenen Adelsfamilien und wurde mehrfach umgebaut.
Im Jahr 1945 wurde das Schloss enteignet und dient heute als Kulturzentrum des Ortes. Es wird von der Kindertagesstätte, einem Jugendclub und verschiedenen Vereinen genutzt. Zudem kann vor Ort geheiratet werden.
The castle was once a Sumpfburg, built on order of Margrave Wiprecht von Groitzsch in the 11./12. Century. It served to protect the commercial street Via Regia Lusatiae Superioris. Until 1945 the castle was owned by several noble families and was rebuilt several times.
In 1945, the castle was expropriated and now serves as the cultural center of the village. It is used by the nursery, a youth club and various clubs. Inside the castle you can also marry.
