I only became aware of this gentleman when I happened to pass through the Chater House, named in his memory.

In short, Mr Chater was a prominent and successful Hong Kong businessman. He was also socially active, arts, culture, and politics. He lived a good and long life, 1846-1926. He is evidently well remembered in Hong Kong.
The bust is located in near the south-west, ground floor entrance to the building.
