On the northern side of the park on the corner of Anderson Drive, and Allendale Street is boulder, with a commemorative plaque for World War 2.

The commemorative plaque is on a moderately large sandstone boulder set into a slab of concrete. To the north of it is a piece of artillery (possibly a howitzer). The plaque reads:
" 1945 [RSL logo] 1995
Commemorating the 50th anniversary to all the men and women who served their country in World War II
This plaque was erected on the 15th August 1995 by Beresfield and District RSL Sub-Branch and Newcastle City Council.
