Der Apostel Thomas ist einer der zwölf Apostel bzw. Jünger, die Jesus drei Jahre lang als Freunde und Schüler begleiteten. Der Name Thomas leitet sich ab aus dem aramäischen ta'am, was „gepaart“ oder „Zwilling“ bedeutet.

Die Figur:
Im Inneren der katholischen Dorfkirche zu Neuengrün befindet sich auf der Balustrade der Kirchenempore wo die Kirchenorgel steht eine Figurenansammlung von Jesus Christus, eingerahmt von seinen 12 Aposteln. Die Figuren haben eine Höhe von rund 40 cm und sind stilvoll bearbeitet. Auf der Unterseite ist der jeweilige Name zu erkennen.

The figure:
Inside the Catholic village church at New Green is located on the balustrade of the church temples where the church organ stands a figurine collection of Jesus Christ, framed by his 12 Apostles. The figures have a height of about 40 cm and are stylishly worked. The name can be seen on the bottom.
