Air Itam - A small park that is dedicated to the fallen of World War II. The area around the Overseas Chinese Anti-War Memorial Park was upgraded on Armistice Day November 2011, the Air Itam War Memorial Park had the installation of interpretive plaques, World peace memorial, Penang Chinese Relief Mural & The Penang Chinese Relief Memorial, were all added, & the park renamed: Air Itam War Memorial Park.
"The Air Itam War Memorial Park is a small park off the Air Itam Roundabout, in Air Itam, Penang. It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, at 11:00 am on 11 November, 2011, the 60th anniversary of the original unveiling of the Overseas Chinese Anti-War Memorial, the main feature of the park.
In addition to the Overseas Chinese Anti-War Memorial, the memorial park also includes the World Peace Memorial, the Penang Chinese Relief Memorial and the Memorial Park Mural. The World Peace Memorial is in the form of a pedestal with a flock of doves in flight. The Penang Chinese Relief Memorial depicts the transportation volunteers sent to provide relief for China. They served as drivers and mechanics to transport material into China following the blockade of Chinese seaports by Japan. The relief effort is also shown on a mural showing workers building the road between Burma and China and the convoy of trucks." Text Source: (
