The grave of John Dwight "Happy Jack" Chesbro and his wife Mabel Shuttleworth Chesbro is marked by a boulder with two rectangular bronze plaques that are inscribed:

JOHN D. CHESBRO
1874 - 1931

and

MABEL S. CHESBRO
1876 - 1940

Description:
John Dwight Chesbro was born in North Adams, MA on June 5, 1874. He was a major league baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1899–1902), the New York Highlanders, the precursor to the New York Yankees (1903–1909), and the Boston Red Sox (1909). He compiled a won-loss record of 198-132. Because of his cheerful disposition he was given the nickname "Happy Jack". His most significant claim to fame occurred in the 1904 season with the New York Highlanders when he won 41 games. This is a modern, since 1901, baseball record which is considered by most baseball experts to be unbreakable. John D. Chesbro was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the veterans committee in 1946.
