On a rocky point on the shore of the Sooke Basin is Hydrographic Survey Canada BM M11 09 102. The point is at the outlet of Roche Cove.

When we hike through Matheson Lake and Roche Cove CRD Parks, we often have lunch at this rocky point, a viewpoint of the Sooke Basin, East Sooke Park and the Sooke Hills. Today I noticed the benchmark and took pictures and the GPS location. Access the area at the Galloping Goose crossing of Gillespie Road and turn left on a grassy trail as the Goose climbs the hill. Follow the old lane first right and then left out to the rocky viewpoint.
