This bridge dates from 1990s when the intersection of Ontario highways 416 and 417 was constructed. The bridge crosses divided highway 416 and the realigned Cedarview Road. Originally, the bridge hosted two sets of rail. Before construction of the bridge and of highway 416, there was a level-crossing at that stretch of Cedarview Road. In 2017, that road is known as Cassidy Road.
For most of its life, this railroad was known as the Beachburg subdivision of the Canadian National Railway (CN). The line was opened in 1915.
There is little potential for future rail traffic on this bridge. The Beachburg sub has been formally abandoned beyond Nepean Junction (3.2 miles from this site). The rails beyond Nepean Jct were removed in 2014. West from Nepean Junction, the surviving piece of the Renfrew sub serves only one customer. In 2017, the railway bridge hosts a single train each week.
