Firehall Restaurant (now Lone Star Texas Grill) won an Award of Honour for Heritage Preservation from Heritage Canada in 1978 for its restoration of Kingston original firehall. Heritage Canada is a department of the Federal Government.

The building was also the recipient of local heritage awards in 2006 for another restoration of the building's stone masonry and slate roofing.
