In the CBD and cultural area of Guangzhou City is this large bank building, and, at the southern entrance these two impressive lions guard against evil doers.
The two lions lie on plinths, gazing upwards and outwards. The southern lion has an open mouth, while his northern companion is more refined. Life-sized, the lions are, I surmise, later additions. The rock from which they are carved is of a different shade to the building itself.
