The "Runde Turm" or "Pulverturm", the landmark of the city of Zell (Mosel), formed the top tower of the former city fortification of 1229.
This was demolished after the big fire in 1848 to some remains and the stones were used for the building construction.
The round tower and the square tower, however, were preserved and served as emergency apartments. The tower has a height of 14 meters and a diameter of six meters. Originally, as old pictures show, he carried a high pointed helmet surrounded by four watchtowers. Around 1690 the round tower got a curved hood, which fits the helmet of the parish church of St. Peter. Even today we can clearly see the shooting ranges, which gave the tower the nickname Pulverturm.
