Herrington Funeral
At the age of 15, Paul Herrington took a job in a Palestine funeral home and decided it would be his lifelong profession. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1973 and serving almost 9 years in the US Army as an Airborne, Ranger, Special Forces officer, Paul returned to Palestine to pursue his dream. He graduated from Mortuary college to acquire a Texas funeral director and embalmer’s license.
Land of Memory Cemetery was licensed by the State of Texas to operate as a perpetual care cemetery in 1952. Paul Herrington and his family purchased it and added the funeral home in town in 1983. For many years, Paul operated both the funeral home and cemetery with the help of his father, Harry. After Harry passed in 1991, Leland Reinhard stepped in to help with whatever was needed.
It was a happy day in 2005 when Paul’s son, Kurt, after graduating from Texas A&M University-Commerce and the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service returned to the family business as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Kurt now mostly runs the funeral home and cemetery continuing the family service of caring and compassion started by his father and grandfather.
