Mr. Smith's star is located on the north side of E Exchange Ave, in front of The Coliseum, and it says:

Dean Smith is a stuntman, actor, cattle rancher, track and football star athlete, and Olympic gold medal winner in the 1952 Helsinki games. He has also won amateur championships for bareback bronco riding and calf roping. Inductions into halls of fame include: Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the University of Texas Hall of Fame. Awards include the American Culture Award for Western Movies and Television Award, the Golden Boot Award, the Ben Johnson Award, the All American Cowboy Award and the Head of the Class Alvin Davis Award as well as the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museums Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2002 he organized the Dean Smith Celebrity Rodeo benefiting the Cowboy Cancer Crusade tribute to Ben Johnson, the Dean Smith Celebrity Rodeo benefiting the John Wayne Cancer Institute honoring the Singing Cowboys in Abilene, Texas, and the John Wayne Cancer Institute honored him with the "Duke" award for his contributions to cancer research. His acting career included making ten films with John Wayne.

Throughout the walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers have been placed in honor of their achievements.
