On the top of the mountain there was a stone cross until October 1944. However, the cross was completely destroyed in war. The stone cross was a cruciform structure on a square foundation with a side length of about 4m. In the last quarter of the construction, pointing in the four directions, two intersecting crossbeams penetrated the shaft, which made it possible to see the cross from every perspective.
After the destruction of the cross in 1944, people wished to build a new cross at the place where the stone cross once stood. A pastor of could win the parish youth for the idea and in 1947 the new cross made from wood was inaugurated. The cross was made of peeled spruce wood and stood in a concrete base in the ground. The crossbars were attached to the trunk and slightly braced.
In the sixties, however, the desire for a new and stable cross rose, as the wooden cross could only be regarded as a temporary solution. Despite some difficulties the new cross was inaugurated in 1972. It was decided to build a cross made of a steel structure that was 15m high and 8m wide from the concrete floor to the top. The concrete floor was created as a viewing plateau with seating and invites to linger.
In the year 2001 finally lighting was added and in summer of 2005, a telescope was set up, which greatly improved the view of the surroundings. In good weather, the view extends to the Eifel and neighboring Belgium and the Netherlands.
