If we say of this fig-tree that it is a strangler, it is for a good reason: its system of stifling development. Indeed, when a wasp, a bat or a bird disseminates one of the seeds of a choke tree, for example above a branch of another tree, a particularly surprising development will naturally start A network of aerial roots.
The seed will throw aerial roots to the ground. (Search for autonomous nutrients). The seed will then throw aerial roots towards the top of the host tree. (Race towards light). Meanwhile, the seed will grow into powerful nutrients from the tree that houses it. (Feeds before becoming autonomous)
The choke fig trees are invasive and colonizing species that ultimately surround the host tree of these roots, which grow until the asphyxia of the tree and its decay. The fig tree then becomes autonomous, the host tree is dead, hence the name choke fig tree.
Strangled fig trees also grow on old ruined walls and even in our modern cities.
The choking fig trees accelerate the destruction of our vestiges, they seem to send to efface as quickly as possible what has been done by man. Even when we create cities, the strangling fig trees interfere in the slightest interstices to make everything fly apart. The least of our faults and inevitably destruction is progressing.
