Marker located near the village of Dundela, denoting the location of the original McIntosh apple tree, planted by John McIntosh in 1796.
Today, the McIntosh is the National Apple of Canada.
Marker text reads:
The Original McIntosh Red Apple Tree
stood about 20 rods north of this spot.
It was one of a number of seedlings
taken from the border of the clearings
and transplanted by John McIntosh in
the year 1796.
erected by popular subscription 1912
The tree was located approximately 100 Meters north. The marker is located on the north side of County Road 18 just west of Heritage Road in the village of Dundela.
