There is an historic sign at the cemetery.

text from sign: "Site of 1st Public Cemetery set. 1806 and original site of Congregational church 1st church in Virgil org. 1805, erected 1821 Town of Virgil 1978"

The cemetery has some very large maple trees. It also has a Revolutionary War veteran and a zinc marker.

The gravestones are neatly lined up in rows. There is one that is not in line that is being swallowed by a tree. Does this mean the markers were moved?
