The Church was completed in late 1870 as a Wesleyan Church, the clay to for the bricks was obtained from the gully across the road and was roofed with jarrah shingles. In 1897 the church became a Methodist Church and the first resident missionary, Walter Prior, was appointed. In 1914 a weatherboard Manse was constructed behind the Church, but was demolished in 1969 because of a white ant infestation.
In June 1977 most congregations of the Methodist Church of Australasia, the Presbyterian Church of Australia and the Congregational Union of Australia came together to form the Uniting Church
